This multi-chapter preview introduces the reader to the negative impacts that “faith versus science” perceptions have on our ministries. Questions for reflection at the end of each chapter ask the reader to appraise the general health of their congregation’s understanding of the faith-science relationship including: opportunities for congregants to engage topics and issues at the intersection of faith and science; where there may be unwellness or lack of understanding; and what role(s) they can serve to help others experience the harmony between faith and science.

For workshop participants, this introduction lays the foundation for a more comprehensive understanding of why science matters to ministry. Participants will identify steps that can be taken within their already existing ministries to prevent and remedy perceptions of faith-versus-science conflict.
